Coaching for Lawyers and Legal Professionals
Following over 14 years’ working in the legal sector, I have a strong understanding and first-hand experience of the considerations, challenges and organisational dynamics often faced within law firms, in-house legal teams and the legal profession in general – whether as an individual or from the perspective of organisation or team performance. This collective experience has led to me becoming a passionate advocate of the benefits that increased coaching in the sector can bring – namely through the facilitation of more open and trusting working relationships, by helping lawyers and legal professionals to gain more satisfaction and sustainability in their roles and to assist firms to maintain high levels of engagement and retention.
I work with lawyers and legal professionals of all levels (from partners to trainees and those in non-fee earning roles) and typical topics include helping individuals to:
-
Explore, manage and implement career transitions, including transitions into leadership positions, new roles, moves between private practice, in-house roles and other legal sector roles, re-specialisations, returns from parental leave and international relocations;
-
Work through difficulties with low confidence (particularly female lawyers) or lack of career direction and motivation;
-
Manage and improve relationships with stakeholders, relationships within teams and other working relationships, including communication styles, conflict resolution and exploring upward and downward people management styles; and
-
Improve stress, time and anxiety management, particularly during busy work periods or internal reorganisations.
